Is my Verizon MIFI 4620LE turning itself on?

I know my memory is not what it once was, but on too many occasions I've come back to my laptop and noticed that my MIFI is online and connected to the internet after I know I have powered off the MIFI. My internet usage has skyrocketed over the last few months and I can't figure out why, I have not viewed ANY video or streaming audio or video and last month my usage was around 9 gig. Any ideas? Thanks.

Maybe and maybe not....If your computer is left on also, it is very possible that you are using data even though you are not setting in front of the computer. If your computer is turned off then it depends what other if any devices are connected to your Mifi, in my case, at least 3 others at any given time.

Yes, Jeff mine will turn back on without being touched, and it does charge when in the off position. I was told by the techs that it has a sleep mode and wakes to check connectivity then will not go back into the sleep mode without you pushing the power button, or until it reaches the time limit you programed into the system. To alleviate this, I was told to just pull the power connector and then it remains off until I plug it back in.

That is my experience with the 4620 as well. In our current location we do not have Verizon coverage but pretty decent campground WiFi. I had to unplug the MiFi to keep it from constantly searching. I keep it right beside me so I can turn it on occasionally in order to use the wireless printer that also connects to it. When using campground WiFi, I print to CutePDFWriter and when finished, switch to the MiFi and print those PDFs. Works good, just a little extra effort.

Little off topic but results could be simular.
I downloaded a few pictures on my MacBook Pro and they went to Photo Stream. The next day, I copied about 3,000 Pics to the MacBook and thought I turned it off knowing we would be home the next week and could upload them on U-verse. The next morning, our usage had gone from 1.2 Gigs to over 7 Gigs. All the Pics had been uploaded, a new lesson for a smart Dummy. Turn the system off and check it.

Try this http://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/ little program. It will put a graph in your task bar. You can watch what is going on with you data transfers ETC.

Are you sure it turns on or just continues charging? I've noticed that mine seems to cycle, but it doesn't turn on once turned off, external power or not

I wonder what's going on? My Verizon 4620LE will come back on after you turn it off if you don't disconnect power??

4620. The 5510 sure came fast. I got the 4620 in Quartzsite when AT&T failed out there for several days.

Mine is just fine. If plugged in and you turn it off, it stays that way.

If you leave it plugged into the wall, it will turn itself back on. I have had two MiFis and they both did this. Only way to turn them off is to disconnect power first.

My Dell laptop does a self-check of its internet connection every couple of hours. I didn't know this until I decided to figure out why the laptop was also restarting on its own. The self-check was conflicting with something else, also causing the laptop to restart.

Maybe yours laptop also check and starts the internet connection after you've turned it off. If I want to keep it off, I slide the swtich off -- a handy thing.

We get 20 gig for $69.95/mo. The nice thing is their contract with Verizon allows the use of all Verizon towers, including partner and leased, so there is no interruption of service, as long as you are in the Verizon service area. Also, have never had a problem with any extra ordinary amounts of bandwidth use and we leave ours on 24/7, except when on the road between stops.

This is not on a Millenicom account it is on a Verizon account. I'll be going to Millenicom as soon as my contract expires. What are Millenicom's rates?

I'll start unplugging the dang thing from now on.

Thanks.
