Odd Problem

On our new to us 2014 Sabre 33CKTS, when the main tv is on using the antenna everything works fine. If I turn the bedroom tv on, again using the antenna, the sound on the main tv is muted. The main tv has surround sound as an option, the bedroom does not have that option. Any suggestions?

Well, I checked every connection that could be found. And it appears the problem has corrected itself. Behind the radio is a splitter and numerous connections, I tightened all, and the sound has returned. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Sounds like a ground loop issue as someone else mentioned. Try plugging both TV's into the same power outlet as a test. Good luck...

When the bedroom tv is off, the main tv works fine. I will attempt to find where there might be a ground problem.

If it only affects audio and not video, it's unlikely the TV itself (both audio and video are digital, so a reception issue would affect both). It's a very unusual issue, but I would suspect the issue is in the surround sound system. Perhaps when the 2nd TV is turned on, a ground loop is created, causing the surround system to go quiet.

I would first try recreating the issue, then unplugging the antenna lead from the 2nd TV. If that restores audio through the first system, it's almost certainly a grounding issue.

Could it be the amplifer is bad or going bad. To the point it cannot supply signal to both televisions? I have had some type of camper for over 30 years, this is the first one that you cannot watch both tv's at the same time.

The shared coax could not have anything to do with this.

The main tv is being muted without the surround sound. The tv's are two different makes, two different remotes. The only tie to the tv's appear to be the coax cable from the antenna amplifier. There is no BOMB box. The bedroom tv only has the coax and electric cord.

It could be the surround sound is wired to be muted when the bedroom TV is turned on, so that the two sets can be used simultaneously without the main TV drowning out the sound from the bedroom TV. Do you have a BOMB (box of many buttons) that may allow you to select TV sound or surround sound for the main TV?

What is actually getting muted, the TV or the surround sound? Are you using a remote to turn on the bedroom TV, if so is there anyway the push of that button on that remote is being "seen" by the other TV or sound system?
Are they both the same manufacturer?
