Portable satellite dishes

Any info on which is the most reliable and last longer between King, Dish & Winegard. I am new to full time Rving & will use Dish. Will be surfing channels a lot I am sure. Also will be moving often.

The Winegard Pathway X2 has a larger dish than most of the others, and is also both eastern and western arc capable. One limitation of all of the "dome" style dishes that the premium receivers like the multiple tuner Hopper DVR's are not compatible with them. The only Winegard automatic dish that is compatible with the Hopper series is the roof mounted &#plusmn;$1500 (plus installation) Trav'ler, and even that dish is restricted to western arc reception only. All in all, the portable tripod mounted double or triple satellite dishes are by far the most flexible, but can also take a bit more effort to set up and aim. With practice, 10-15 minutes is doable most of the time though.

I have used the Winegard Caryout since it was first introduced. It provides capability to use all providers which I like in case I drop Dish network. Using Dish Network, it allows me to chose the eastern, western arc or a hybride. This is a great advantage when under tress or other obstrutions that reduce satellite aiming capability. The only problem with the Caryout is it has a small dish like other portables that has a reduced S/N ration from the larger fixed dishes. That means is will wag out sooner in a thunder storm or heavy clouds. But that is not that big of problem when it happens it is temporary.

Had the Winegard Cappryout G2 for,two,years and happy with it. Can get Dish, Direct and Bell so not locked into one provider

Nothing works well in the trees so that's pretty much a no-brainer. The 3 Dish satellites are spread across the sky by about 20 degrees (WA) so you need a VERY clear view of the SWern sky. The EA satellites are not so far apart but you mostly need to be East of the Mississippi to make use of these satellites.

This is not so if you're in a marginal area with trees, etc. I can sometimes only get 2 sats and not the hd 129 sat. When I surf it takes a long time and sometimes wants to start the whole setup over again.

I just bought a portable 3lnb dish to try in those areas where the Tailgater has a problem. I wish I had room for the X2, but my small Class B is limited in space.

Changing the channel sometimes causes the Tailgater to move to look for whatever satellite a particluar channel is on, and can only lock on to one satellite at a time. The tripod antenna does not need to move as it picks up all satellites at once. I keep the Tailgater as a backup in case something should happen to the tripod.

Got three years before my last Tailgater crashed. Used full time the last two years.

I have a tailgater and love it. It is durable as well. Just went through a flood last week. I left it dry out of a week and it still worked last night when i tried it. Cant ask for much more than that

I went with the pathway X1 'cause it is a little smaller, works good for me.

X2... have been using my Pathway X2 since May of this year and love it... There for a while, Winegard was running a special that IF you purchased the Pathway X2 AND 1 of the DIsh Wally's, you would get $100.00 off.

I would ask them for that offer first . .
