Question regarding a booster/amp for our home wifi.....

I have been trying to rewire our internet router, 2Wire 2701HG-B, into the living room and help out the laptop and to hopefully help with streaming movies on our BluRay, LG BD390. I would place the amp right next to the BluRay and maybe 6-8 feet from the laptop.
We stream ok but the distance of the laptop and the BluRay are about 40 feet from the source.
I am finding that the original phone line that I had installed in the LR is not accessible from the outside.....It slipped too far under to be able to grab.
I have looked on Newegg for boosters. They do have a few. Would this be a reasonable way to go? Any advice or recommendations.
Thank you

Well, I ended up just moving my router into the LR. The crawl space is very limited and I needed 4 trips. Not at all simple but now it is over and working great.
I had a large roll of CAT5 so I just used that. Now the Direct HD box and the BluRay are both hard wired .....We will see how it streams next time we catch a movie on VuDu.....
Thanks for the posts

I went to BestBuy and purchased a WIFI Signal Booster and it works fantastic!.. Before I could not get WIFI on my rear deck... Now I get 100% on my deck and 100% 40 away at the pool deck.... It cost me $69.00 and I believe it was made by Belkin... I needed it because to watch TV outside I needed something other then renting another cable box,, I picked up a slingBox ... LOVE IT

Not sure exactly what result you are hoping for but after struggling with some repeaters and boosters from Amped, went with this wired repeater.

Ubiquiti PicoStation

There is a wireless router in one end of the house, but ran an 80 foot network cable to mount this one at the other end of the house. Works great! It is mounted outdoors, under the eve giving good reception for anyone parked outside the house in their RV. Transmits back into the house too, not problem.
