Unlimited data Sasktel

Hi all,

Sasktel FINALLY has a cell phone plan for $125 Cdn per month that has unlimited data. It does throttle at 15 gigs--but WOW this is great news.

Bell has a more or less identical plan. I don't remember the prices but it does go 10, 15, 20, and perhaps 25 gigs.

However you pay for the data whether you use it or not. The Sasktel plan only works in Canada, but unlimited is a siren song for a full time Rv'er.

I am on a Sask Telus plan. I have the unlimited call/text US/Can with 10Gigs for $75 Can. This is, IMHO, the best plan available in Canada right now. We don't do anything like Netflix or much of any video downloads and the 10 gigs is plenty. When it looks like we need more, I will upgrade to 15 gigs for another $10. A little tricky for us out of province guys to get but worth the effort.

Good Point.

I successfully use both Bell and Koodo to watch netflix. However, I've never watched when throttled.

Don. be careful what you use for a speed test. Netflix recommends fast.com. They in that company. If they tell you that 5 is needed it has to be 5 on their test. Sasktel or koodo might be tooslow.

That is not bad at all, even for some of the US plans. There is a ton of stuff that is still fully workable at 2Mb up and down.

Trust me it is a deal from HELL!

Here is the throttling info:

"If you exceed the Wireless Fair Use Policy usage limits, your wireless data service will be slowed down to 2 Mbps download speed and 2 Mbps upload speed for the remainder of your billing period."

I'm pretty sure I can do netflix on the laptop at 2 Mbps.

Hi 2oldman,

At the moment I have 7 gigs from Koodo. If I go over that AT ALL they charge $50 for one more gig.

I have a Bell plan that is 15 gigs for $106. If I go over it is 0.10 cents per meg. That works out to $102.40 per gig.

I can live with the slower data for sure!

its people wanting 24/7 access to netflix etc streaming video
that want the same service in the RV they have at home
that think anything less than true full unlimited is not enough

i'm not saying that desire is good or bad

my phone and data service with VZW and ATT cost a total of approx $170 month
i have unlimited with each carrier

full timers KNOW we have to spend $$ for service

that SASTEL offer is possibly the best one in Canada 'EVER' so far !
