Why Does Camping World Advertise Items they don't have in stock?

Numerous times I've gone into the CW store in Vacaville, CA only to find out the advertised items, from their mailings, are out of stock.

I always get the same answer from employees : "oh, we just sold the last one".

It could be possible but when I hear that response, I think its just their standard answer to something.......

Now last week I ordered 3 Maxx Air roof vent covers along with a few other items. Only 2 of the vent covers were shipped.

It should be noted that my credit card was charged in the full amount for these items.

Upon contacting CW via their online 'chat' method, I was told the warehouse was shipping the 3rd vent cover that day.

Its been 5 days and I still have not been able to get a shipping tracking number from CW.

I have telephoned, only to be put on hold so long that I hung up, emailed and another online 'chat'.

Still no information from CW.

I don't think CW shipped my 3rd vent cover and that they outright lie about it......

5outta6, I know you finally have your problem resolved and are on your way, but, CW has not and will not change in any way due to you exposing their business practices. They have and will continue to follow business practices that are to their advantage. However, in our State there are a multitude of laws and regulations that prohibit some of their practices.

I fully appreciate the Forums and the Good Sam club, it is expensive to create and maintain a public forum with the principles followed here. Good Sam is another community based(at least originally) self help and recreation oriented organization. And here is the "but", and I hope I am quoting correctly, "They are my millions and they are my rules". There is a huge billboard near the market I trade at with the smirking face of the forum's benefactor touting his TV show, "The Profit".

On edit, yesterday I could not post on the forums, probably due to some failure of my computer and to be honest I really would have withheld most of this post because I didn't think the problem had been resolved, but it is cathartic and I do feel better.

I'm glad you feel better.

Btw: I'm also in Calif. and know consumer laws and regulations well.
The whole point of posting here is to get CW to take action.
And like I said, this forum got results. Better than emailing CW.

Epilogue:
I finally received my roof vent cover after numerous emails and telephone calls ( of which only to hang up after prolonged wait times for service).

Posting here probably helped more than emailing or calling CW customer service , which in my opinion is lacking.

Just like the old saying: "The squeaky wheel gets the grease".

"You have a simple solution. Call the credit card co and contest the charge. If they don't get paid they will fix it. "

yes, that is an option.

But I still need the vent cover.

Someone from CW, who is posting here, said they would call me yesterday; I guess they forgot to call.

I have also received a couple of pages of responses from CW regarding my inquiries.

All I asked for is a simple tracking number.

Which I still haven't received after one week of this.

All I get are excuses.

Now you see why Amazon.com and Ebay are so successful.

Is this a joke or something.

Now I receive an email in response to my original inquiry only to be sent the same old UPS tracking number for the incomplete shipment.

CW gave me an 800 number to call and I hung up after 9 continue to hold messages.

Indeed, you certainly are making a spectacle of yourself over a $25 purchase. :h

Not only Camping World, all stores have the right to linit quantities of any sale items. Read all ads carefully.

You are missing the point.

I was charged for this item. The credit card charge should reflect what was shipped.

Most companies would charge for the items shipped.

Not only

Gee, I you asked for my phone number and I don't recall the phone ringing.

People: This is how CW operates; all talk and no action.

All this trouble for a $25 purchase!

It's called "customer service".

They're not the only outfit lacking in it.
