abbreviation lookup or glossary

I owned a travel trailer 40 years ago, and am now looking into buying a motor home. Just joined this forum this morning to educate myself.
I am confused by the use of acronyms. I can figure out some based on the content of the post. Others, I have no clue. Is there a abbreviation lookup or glossary function here? If there is, I can't find it. Using the search function is not much help.

I call it to lazy to write out the complete word....1/2 the time I have no clue what they mean but I am getting better.

It took me longer that I am willing to admit to figure out what a TV was. Always thought it was that entertainment thing people hang on their wall. :B

Ok, what is DW?

The W is for wife. Pick anyone of the following:

Dear, dang, ****, dopey, dumb, dead, dorky, da lovely.

I would suggest you select the first one or the last one.

On another forum I commented about a DW who lit a candle in her MH to cover up the smell of leaking gas. I said "I'm not sure what DW stands for but I assume it stands for ditzy wife." What else, in that context, would DW mean? Wow, did that guy (FL-JOE) get pissed at me for "insulting the mother of his children." I suggested he might need to attend anger management classes and cultivate a sense of humor.

Oh Though usually around here DW means Dear or Darling Wife.

On my job we used to deal with a lot of DW's and they need not be female DIM WHITS. (We used a different term though)

The point is TLA's can cause confusion.. Usually when I post something like that I will do a (three letter acronym) the first time so that you know what I mean.

IN my case DW is "Deceased Wife" by the way.

Ah yes, those in technical fields are inundated with TLA's and FLA's. Just to make sure we're all on the same page, those would be Three Letter Acronyms and Four Letter Acronyms! :B LOL

I remember being called on to read a page from our 'social studies' text in the 7th or 8th grade(1962 or 1963) and coming across the acronym GOP. My teacher nearly had a stroke when I pronounced it rhyming with 'mop'...

Like I said I'm not going to list 'em here but ... I like yours.

The Problem with so many abbreviations is they vary based on who is speaking

EMS: Emergency Medical Service
EMS: Energy Management System
EMS: Energy Monitoring System

Three different meanings

AC (Alternating current) some folks use A/C to mean air conditioning some use AC.
