Looking to get the connections to hook a 20# "grill" tank to my larger mh tank. Is there one I can buy that hooks into the fill fitting of the mh or do I have to get one that tees into the mh regulator between tank?

Take your pick:

Sturgi-Stay

Stay-A-While

Camco Propane Brass Port Kit

Do you figure they are all made at the same plant....in China?

There is also the Extend A Stay Deluxe, which allows for one to run the RV from a portable propane cylinder, a BBQ grill from the propane tank, or both at the same time. This is what I'd look into getting.

All and all, I consider this a must have, especially when boondocking.

On my old trailer, I had the one with the TEE, actually called an Extend A Flow. Extend A Stay is a different product to connect another propane tank if your main tank is running low, thus "extending" your "stay".

The difference between the Extend-a-flow and the Extend-a-stay is that you can NOT use the Extend-a-Flow to run your RV off a portable tank, , it is designed for trailers that already have portable tanks.
You not only Can, but I have on several occasions, the difference is, the Extend-A-Stay has a specific inlet for the hose from your portable tank, and you can run your grill or other accessories at the same time, With the Extend-A-Flow, once you hook up your portable tank, you can't run anything else off of it.

I had one on my TT, now have a motor home and put the Extend-a-stay on it dang near day 1.

If the extend a stay or stay a wile, or what ever you use and it is installed between the RV tank and the regulator, the regulator needs to be supported with a bracket, otherwise the extended weight of the the 2 units will brake at the tank with the vibration of the RV on the road.

I have the extend a stay hooked between the tank and the regulator supported with a home made bracket, this allows me to hook a 5 gallon tank, and use that for the water heater, stove, cabin heater it is easier to take a small tank to be filled rather than moving the entire rig when staying at a far out of the way camp ground

I have installed a quick connect for the BBQ teed of from the stoves line at the rear of the rig.

Thanks for the info everybody.... Just curious, should I go with the "High" priced Marshall brass products or are the Camco products as safe and durable?

There is NO adapter that hooks into the fill fitting and in fact that is a one -way fitting (Fill only).

Use the Stay-A-While from Mr. heater, this appears to be identical to the Extend-a-stay which used to be made by Marshall brass and many of us have.. works great, easy install.

rememver POL (Prest-o-Lite) also stands for PUT ON LEFT, it is left handed threaded.

The Extend-A-Stay is inserted between the tank and regulator. I have never seen a fill adapter on a horizontal tank anywhere but at the LP station

Hi,

I have a extend-a-stay type of tee in the line for my motorhome. It basically looks like the regulator input on one side, output of the tank on the other side, and has a fitting that looks like the top of a disposable 1# propane tank in the middle.

To that fitting, I can hook up a 12' long extension hose, and run my lantern or propane BBQ.

I also bought a LP tank adapter for my propane 20# tank, that I can connect directly to the BBQ or LP lantern.

I also bought two connectors that look like the base of the LP lantern, so LP input fittings, with 3/8" output MPT. I bought a 3/8" MPT coupling to connect them together. So now I can hook up this connector to the RV tee, then the 4' hose from the 20# tank to this tee. I connect everything with both tanks shut off, as it can shoot out propane the way it is, if the tank is not off.

Then I can open either the RV tank or portable 20# tank, and use propane from the open tank. I was able to live in my RV 4 years without filling the main tank this way.

Good luck!

Fred.
