My first post: sacrilege....

I made the mistake, or opportunity of contacting greatescapes.com. They claim to give 50% off campgrounds and more. It is feeling like I am getting spammed but would like to know if anyone has tried this website and if it is as great as it says it is.

I'm a working man, due to retire in 4 years and taking off to tour the 50 states in no particular order. I don't care if I have wi-fi 80% of the time, I expect to absorb the interests around me.

I have not decided on a class A or a class C but will be having a toad on our adventures. I plan on story telling by a campfire to anyone who wants to listen, and loving my navigator when the flames die down.

I don't have a rig, I don't have a plan, I won't have a worry and I won't be in a hurry. If it were up to me I would die in my RV bed several miles down the road and let Good Sam take care of the rest.

Don't bother with bloodsucking clubs and their rules. Enjoy the state, Federal and local parks across the fruited plain.

Skip the club or any membership until you have been on the road for a year.

You seem to someone who might enjoy state parks which are fairly inexpensive. Usually have plenty of locals to swap stories with.

how much a year does it cost? Passport America is about $39?? or it was when I belonged, but as stated, check the web site and see what/where the various campgrounds are.

Before deciding to join a "club", check which campgrounds along the way offer this club discount. I've seen some great rates at RV parks posted by Passport America members, but a small subset of parks accept the club. Sometimes, it's the same rate as AAA or AARP. Paying with a credit card that has a cash reward program is an added perk.

If you will be doing national parks, you should get a gezzer pass.

Welcome to the forum. We retired last year and did a 16 state, 6 month, 6000 mile tour of the southeast. We had a ball.
