New member from Colorado checking in. My wife and I bought our 2015 Winnebago View Profile one month ago. It still has the temp tags, but due to an unexpected trip to from Denver to Maine, it now has 6000 miles on it - and we leave for WA State on Friday!

My initial observations are that it is really easy to drive - I felt less fatigue than when driving a car. I logged over 4500 miles in just 6 days of driving, but never felt like I was pushing it too far. It was relaxing driving just under the speed limit, and I was able to drive farther because of it.

The Allstays iPad app was extremely helpful as I used it to find Walmarts and campgrounds. I stopped overnight at a mix of Walmarts, rest stops, and a campground (when it was 96 degrees out I wanted A/C!). The Fuel Monitor app was also very helpful. The difference in fuel use between 65 mph and 70 mph was about 2 mpg. I averaged 15 mpg for the trip, with the best tank being 18 mpg with a tail wind.

I chose to go through Canada on the way to Maine as there's a direct route from Detroit to Northern Maine through Ontario and Quebec. Roads in Canada were very good and I avoided a lot of tolls that way. Border crossings were no problem, especially into Canada. Into Canada they wanted to know if I had any guns on board; said it was okay, they just needed to know. Into the US, they wanted to look in cabinets, etc., and seemed very curious about why I would go through Canada.

Finally, US Route 36 through Kansas is a great escape from freeway driving. It is the most direct route between Indianapolis and Denver, if not the fastest. I plan to drive it again but spend more time exploring on the way.

Enough about me. I'll close by saying that I've already got a lot of info out of this forum and hope to learn a lot from it in the future.

Welcome to the forum. I have traveled that route thru Canada and it does save some time.
