with the none adjustable head tilt, and rotary brackets??

I'm almost ready to buy but read of one horror story but owner may of had the nose high on the trailer when setting up.

My Reese Strait-Line (High Performance Dual Cam) is 8.5 years old and I've had issues of getting it adjusted correctly. Initially the bars were hitting the cam lobe brackets on my 19BH 22' TT but I just paid attention not to turn to sharp.

When put on my my 26BH 29' trailer, they hit the cam lobe bracket or the threads of the ball, and broke the head. Dealer adjusted it poorly. I did have to use larger spring bars for the heavier tongue weight. Went from 800 lbs to 1200 lbs, no 1000 lbs option unfortunately.

Dealer replaced head and readjusted it to have the bars swing lower as not to hit the cam lobe brackets but then I have the head tilted toward the trailer at a steep angle and only have had 2 spare links on the chain. That was with my 2010 and 2012 F150s (same truck basically, just different engine).

I really don't want to deal with adjusting this thing again for the new truck. I really don't trust it all that much.

So I've heard great things about the blue ox sway pro and I'm pretty much ready to buy, but still a little hesitant.

I just want to know if anyone had some really bad issues with the "NEW" designed head and rotary bracket.

Thanks everyone.

My first two tows with the BO system went well. I have a tongue weight of 880 (probably closer to 1000) with the propane tanks and batteries. I have the 1000# bars. I can get my combination where it needs to be going 8 links down from the loose end. I do get a little porpoising when towing but I think that is due more to my short wheelbase than anything. What would be the advantage of going to 1500# bars? Maybe a few less links? Would it help the porpoising at all? I am happy with current set up and travel down the road is a pleasant experience. Just curious is 1500# bars would make any difference and, if so, what might it be?

An EQ will not take any longer to hitch/unhitch than a BO. I've owned both. BO is definitely quieter around the bends, but BO is not silent. I personally thought the EQ felt like it was more stable than the BO, but it could have been the trailer as well (1200# EQ with a 7500# trailer vs. 1500# BO with a 10000# trailer). You will most likely be happy with either decision.

It's time for a new hitch for me. Ram 2500 and 31 ft TT, 7500 pounds with 1000 -1100 pounds TW. Looking at the BO and EQ. The BO is simple, quiet, not a lot of parts but not sure about the ability to stop sway or bounce. The EQ has pins and can make some noise and won't be as quick and easy to hook and unhook. But the EQ looks to have good sway and bounce control. The BO costs more.
If the BO works great with bounce and sway then I go with that one as it is quick and simple. But don't want to regret it. Any advice from those that own them?

I know i need a new system. My current Curt system is rated for 8000 lbs/800 lbs tongue weight. My 18EC is around 5800 lbs dry, and 1163 pounds for the tongue weight. Realistically, the tongue with just the propane and battery is probably 1300 lbs, so the 800 pound bars arent doing much good, and I can tell since I cant get the front end down as much as I think it should. I plan on weighing it soon, but it's clear that the Curt is overmatched.

The factory for Blue Ox is about 500 miles away. It's tempting, just to go see the factory, and check out the sights and action in Pender.

If a person is close enough, and needs definitive help, you can go to BlueOx, and they will help you do the set up. They have a campground, and will allow you to camp there overnight while they help with the set up.

Blue Ox themselves provide some excellent support. I've called them a few times to understand how the hitch works and verify that I setup the hitch correct and they've been great. I called them for an issue I was having with the powder coating on the bars and latches. They replaced them no questions asked.

Several places online to purchase. I bought ours at Tweetys on sale in February. I'd shop e trailer Tweetys, and others online even Amazon but free shipping is a must. It's heavy.

The BlueOx system seems to have a pretty consistent price. Every now and then you may see it go on sale for $50 less or so. I purchased from Etrailer since they had free shipping and a pretty knowledgeable staff.
