Atwood Heat Pump

During the summer I had a heat pump installed in my rv...I just tried to turn the heat pump on and cannot get it to run so I tried to turn on the furnace no luck there either....Now I am worried that we will not be able to get the gas heater to turn on when we do not have 110 volts.....

Bob, There should be a button on the thermostat to turn the furnace on. Set thermostat on heat then hit the "furnace" button. The furnace should come on and not the heat pump. If doesn't work there is something wrong and it does not have to be any certain temp before gas furnace to work. Think you are confusing it with, if it gets to about 45 or less outside the heat pump will not work and the furnace should come on automatically without having to hit the "furnace" button.

I had an Atwood acnd with heat pump installed also. My heat pump runs but will never warm up our coach. It cycles on til the outlet temp gets to about 100ยฐ then shuts off. Fan runs about 5 seconds every minute for 2 minutes to get the the temp from someplace, return air I think, then comes on again until outlet temp gets to 100ยฐ when it shuts off and repeats the cycle. It will never warm the coach. The installer has been working on it off and on for a year trying to get it to work. It is absolutely great on cooling, but a sorry pos on heat.

That sounds like what mine is doing.....I wanted to just turn on the furnace but the book says it has to be 45 degrees or lower out side to do this......I am wondering what I would do if we did not have 110 volts how would I get the thermostat to turn the gas heater on.....

Assuming you have done nothing with the RV, since the install
Dead batteries?

The controls need battery voltage

And there heat pump needs 120v

The heater needs 12v
Check your batteries and fuses and the little silver auto reset themselves breaker under the tt frame near the batteries, in the main 12v cable coconut
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !
