Blue Ox Baseplate

I'm looking at a Blue Ox Baseplate (BX-3810) for my 1963 VW beetle. The unit is advertised for 1970 and later VW but, the installation instructions (page 2) say it will fit "1965 and earlier models with link pin suspension". The advantages over the standard VW Tow Bar make it worth the extra money ($125 vs. $379). For one thing you donโ€™t have to get under the car and disconnect every time you can drive the car. Itโ€™s also much more durable then the VW Tow Bar.
Before I spend the $400 to purchase it I would like to know if anyone has use this product?

I don't have a VW, but the blue ox baseplate on my Subaru is giving top notch service.
