Here are the dry weights of truck from GMC
Curb Weight - Front 3176 lbs
Curb Weight - Rear 2098 lbs
A difference of 1,078 lbs

so I am more evenly distributed with the trailer attached. than with out. Hum?

Depends on what the weights on the two axles were before you hooked up the trailer. May be just fine.

I was thinking 360 lbs was not too much especially if I load up with 40 gal of water for boon docking. Fresh water tank is in front of t.t. axles.

Short answer: no, it's not OK.
The objective of the WDH is to spread the hitch weight more evenly on the TV, in large part to maintain steering control (needs friction) and keep the TV near a normal level.
If the WDH places too much weight force on the front, the rear/drive axle loses some of its friction.

You probably have your weight distribution hitch set up too tight on the bars.
