Centermatics or Balance Beads ???

New tires arriving this week from Simple Tire. My aluminum wheels don't have a lip for weights and I don't trust the stick on weights to stay put. Money not to be considered any suggestions and reasons for why.

New tires are GY KMAX T 245/70/R17.5 LR "J" and 18 ply @75# each with a carrying capacity of 6k @ 125psi $2,206.72 out the door.

Centermatics $219 set of 4.

You must have a different set of Centramatics than I have seen. Mine are thin sheet metal, 1/16" perhaps. I don't think your wheel bearings will notice. :h

I've no experience with Centermatics, but above would be my concern. We have all read of the importance of offset on our trailer wheels.

Some may be better than others, but I have had stick on weights on my motorcycle wheels, for many years/bikes. I have never lost a single one. Many of these wheels, often run well past triple digits. My current has tires rated for 165 continuous, 200 mph max. These wheels, with stick on wts, often see 140, and less often, more than 140 mph.

My stick on wts are placed near center of wheel, rather than lip, which makes more sense anyway.

I have Centramatics on all four corners of my truck. The difference of smoothness in the ride is noticeable and worth it to me. I never considered putting them on the trailer. I would think your air pin box is dissipating enough trailer energy that you wouldn't notice trailer tires' balance improvements in the cab of your truck. My trailer bearings are sensitive to wheel offset which the Centramatics increase so I wouldn't use them. Might try the beads for thirty bucks though.

I've been using stick on weights for 20+ years, probably a total of over 500K miles on many vehicles. I've never had a stick on weight come off. It's the only weight I will let a shop put on a wheel.

It's $238 for 2 tires but I agree the up front cost is higher.

Even if their increased tire mileage is correct most RV tires age out...

I have the centermatics on this rockwood we have but how can you tell when it was hard to feel anything in the truck unless maybe a big problem so time will tell if you see something but we will never know as this is again the last rv trip for us. I bought ours from Mr truck.com Lots of semi's have the centermatic and same here the new goodyear endurances we bought were not balanced from discount tire. chevman
