does anyone know if there are restrictions in the state of NC about towing doubles, im looking at hooking up a jet ski trailer behind the 5th wheel and don't seem to see anything about it being a law.

I am not going to say whether it is legal or not, but driving back from Emerald Isle, NC to Kernersville, NC today we saw 5 different rigs who were double towing. All were 5th wheels with golf carts on open trailers pulled behind the camper.

It just occurs to me that I didn't make it very clear that the SmartTrailer was being towed behind a 34' Big Sky 5th wheel. Just clarifying.

Technically, its not allowed in most states along the east coast; including NC. But that being said, I've seen it from time to time here in the Raleigh area along I-40 and on I-95.

Towing something small like a Jetski or a grill would probably be let slide. Most troopers have better things to do here but you never know.

Biggest I've ever seen though was a ski boat behind a fifth wheel on Hwy. 64 just outside of Knightdale.

you could check with your local RV dealer as well. Most have a copy of the towing laws as they apply to RVs/.

The dealer I used, looked in his book, and told us NC did not allow it.

I've towed in North Carolina several times with my SmartTrailer, which is a type of swivel wheel trailer. I never got stopped or checked out. We have been out there staying to ride the roads in the area.

However, as you may know YMMV.

The quick and dirty guide I checked said no.
But the final authority is your state authorities, if making certain you have the right answer is important, check with them.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.
