Ewww! The caulk is black!

On our 2008 Class C. At first I thought, "Oh, they bought black caulk" but after scraping there's some white/grey in there.

It's not dark brown - it's black.
And they gobbed it on.

Scraping it off is going to be a pain.

I don't think I've ever had caulk go black like this.
Any ideas on what the root cause could have been?

Whelp - I hit it with pure bleach and nothing happened. Stayed just as black after soaking for awhile. The mineral spirits worked best at cleaning things up. I think I'll scrape and clean up then reapply.

Don't know what caused it but some mineral spirits and a clean rag take it off easily. I just finished cleaning mine. ๐Ÿ™‚

If your talking about the caulking oozing (my take)out around the joints of everything on the outside ? I bought one of those caulking tool finishers ,
Looks like a square beveled down to a V at one corner.
I used it to scrape right along the edge of windows , corners where they put the cap on etc. Worked slick , removed the majority of the ooz then took Goof-Off with a rag and cleaned up the rest.

The black is mold. Use a spray bottle with a mixture of household bleach and water. spray it on and let it sit for a while then use an old towel or rag to wipe it off. Might have to repeat again. wipe up any runs as you go. Wear old clothes as the bleach will turn the color on your clothes.

mold, dirt, road grime, etc. At least that is what ours looked like where it was black, and yes it was a pain to get scraped off
