Definitely not necessary. Jeeps are very popular to tow 4-down.
But at least it adds a lot to advising OP on what the issue is. (sarcasm).
4 down vs a trailer? 4 down, all day and everyday. I have set up 4 vehicles in 4 years to tow 4 down, 3 Jeeps. All is good.
The guy next to me this weekend stated he tows his Jeep on a trailer because of the long distances he tows a modified Wrangler and did not want to put undo stress on the vehicle. He then told me he could not get out of a parking lot due to the extra length of the trailer. Trailering behind the MH is a different dynamic when maneuvering in tight spots. The Wrangler is nice as it stays close behind and tracks tightly behind MH. And when I get to the CG I do not have the trailer taking up all that real estate.
