Generator Issue

Its a weird one, any help or ideas appreciated. I am plugged in to shore power and out of no where my generator lights go on and I do NOT have a auto start for my generator. I go outside and I hear a clicking sound at the generator. My service panel is telling me 30 amp, then GEN , then 30 amp, then GEN , etc. I unhook generator and service panel back to normal all gen lights out. Thoughts? Obviously thinking it could be a bad AC/GEN switch. By the way, prior to unhooking if I tried to turn generator on it would not go on.

Hello, I was wondering is the board on the generator?

Check by the generator where the output connects to the coach wiring. Should be a fairly large plug with multiple wires in and out. Moisture has been known to make a connection and start the generator.
