I learned a valuable lesson last week......I used the address of a campground from the GS campground guide to input into my GPS, oops we ended up at a fence with a locked gate looking at a power dam. I was able to get back to the highway where I got a cell signal and I called the campground and they said oh no that is our mailing address. Here is our physical address....Lesson learned ......verify first before heading out.....once before we went to a campground that was in one town but the mailing address was in another town....

Many campground will also tell you on their website -- NOT to use GPS and they give directions. Have even seen route specified to avoid low clearance or steep entrances. We always check the website of the campground.

As a retired USN sailor, I've found my GPS is a master at taking me to a closed base gate.

I learned my lesson about checking the destination physical address, almost always I use google maps.

Most campground directories / directions now include the lay/long coordinates. However I still verify those with google maps
