Honda Fit as TOAD?

When I got our Class C, a car to tow 4 wheels down boiled down to a Honda Fit (auto trans) or Chevy Sonic. I got the Sonic auto. and works great. But now it looks like the choice in transmissions with the new Fit is a manual or CVT. Is the CVT in the Fit, or any car, towable 4-down?

You folks do realize that this post is over a year old. I would think the OP has resolved his issues by now......

I have great sympathy for anybody who gets stuck with a big mechanical issue. I have a Sprinter which has been relatively trouble free, while a few others have been hammered with horrendously expensive and disruptive major problems. With no disrespect intended, we need a bigger sample size to make a conclusion. What if, for instance, your transmission was just a random lemon out of the factory? My one experience is no more valuable than yours. Our '09 Fit has 40k on the odometer and has been towed about 16k miles. It tows easily. The transmission operation today feels no different than when it was new. Tomorrow, I don't know. The only negatives I have are over it's low-ness, requiring a drop receiver and exposing it more to rock dings. I'm planning on renewing the ATF soon, as directed by Honda for towed Fits.

Honda cannot deny warranty coverage for a use that is clearly stated that you can do in the manual. If you have a Honda that states you can tow it for use behind a recreational vehicle, call the district office and complain to them.

Do not get a fit for a Toad. Mine has transmission issues and Honda will not fix under warranty stating it was towed. BEWARE!

Thinking about this last night when running around town in my 5-speed 2012 Fit. As much fun as a liitle 1950s sports car, and it can carry more people or stuff. Also quite competent handling on twisty roads. Saves me the cost of a Miata as a third car for fun driving.

Ford has a CVT transmission that is towable 4 down. It is the only one I'm aware of. The current Fit automatic (CVT) is not towable 4 down however, if you get yourself a 2014 or older, the automatic is towable 4 down. I've got a 2012 that tows and drives great.
