How long does a water filter last?

In reading the description of a water filter, I was wondering how long a water filter lasts. The description said, 1 camping season. What constitutes a camping season?

Thank you for the replies. We are spending 6 months in our RV with continuous use of the filter. So far we have been in the RV for 2 months, I am thinking after 3 months we should change the filter.

Shurflo says up to 2500 gallons on some filters but, how do that know what kind of water you have. If the flow slows down, replace it.

I change mine every year. A season usually defines a specific period within a year. For most of us campers, we put the RV away for the winter meaning that our camping season begins in the spring and ends in the fall.

I have a three filter set-up which lasts for a good 9 months of actual usage by two people over a 2+ yer period. Changed them because we started to notice a little bit of slow-down in the water flow and they were starting to let some calcium through that was starting to spot on the dishes.
