I hate dinettes

Have owned, borrowed, rented, and walked all types of rv. That does not make me an expert but it does leave me with some perspective and the more matured I become in my rv age, the more confirmed I am that the rv industry in order to see more explosive growth needs to bring to a rapid end the addition of the proverbial dinette to any and every type of rv. Please just stop! My reasons are several but basically revolve around the simple fact that sitting one for more than five minutes is absolute torture. In fact I wish we could all ship our dinette to Guantanamo. Make a terrorist sit in one for more than 5 minutes and he/she will tell u everything they know. Painful I say and also purposeless. Indoor tables are not needed for meals. Even in our homes very few Americans eat at tables. And if we do while camping, it is the outside picnic table. So why does the rv industry force us to go backwards by 20 years and give us sore backs at the same time? Maybe it is to play games which again I say are so much more enjoyable outside. So please rv industry leaders stop with the dinette. Give us another couch or comfortable chairs or even more bunks for the neighbor's kids. I saw one ad recently for a moderately priced 38' class 8 that slept 8.i had to ask how. The answer was a picture of a dinette area removed to be replaced by floor to ceiling 3 bunks. Genius thought I. Whew... Thanks for listening. I feel so much better having gotten that of my chest.

At one point in the truck camper business, Snowbird Campers from BC came up with their reclining rotating chairs that included a table that went shorter so both chairs could face inward to the TV. It took the place of a lot of storage space, but was a great addition to the lives of two that lived in a TC.

Well, I can see where a dinette is not useful, but on the other hand, we like our table and chairs. We camp a lot in the late fall and it's nice to eat inside and play cards at a table. On the other hand, I have to strap those chairs down for travel and if we had a dinette, I wouldn't have to and I'd have extra sleeping!

That's one of the reasons we love our 192 RBS, NO DINETTE! When you look at the space taken up by one, it's a lot. You do gain a little bit more storage on the other side of the trailer, but so many of the designs put the entertainment unit opposite of the dinette, which means you're contorted if you're ever watching TV.

We've got a u-shaped dinette, and really like it. Works to seat 5 to eat, and also works well to prop up feet at watch TV.

We may not be your typical family, but when we are home we eat at the table, no tv, no phones, with a 16 and 18 year old.

I agree! We loved our first tt, but the only seating it had was a dinette. We traded it in for a tt with no dinette. It has a very comfy sofa with a fold up table. We hardly ever eat inside anyway.

I don't disagree. I have never sat in one that I wasn't wishing for something more comfortable within 10-15 minutes. Usually cushions are a memory foam that is way to soft and ends up being 1" thick for an average sized guy. I "Generously" offer to allow guests the dinette seats and bring in a camping chair to sit at the end of the table if we are stuck inside playing a board game or cards. Fine for kids or those hovering around 100 lbs but torturous for anyone approaching 200 or with a back or hip issue.

I bought a toy hauler with a happi-jack opposing couches/bunk setup and while it wasn't the reason I went toy hauler, it was a definite selling point in my mind.
