DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa officials are looking for people to serve as campground hosts at several state parks. The state Department of Natural Resources says the hosts will assist park staff at a designated spot with tasks like helping campers and explaining rules. Hosts will also help with registration and serve as impromptu tour guides. Hosts receive free camping for their work, which also includes cleaning and light maintenance. Hosts are needed for the season at Clear Lake, Geode, Lake Wapello, Nine Eagles, Pikes Peak, Pleasant Creek, Prairie Rose, Springbrook, Viking Lake and Wapsipinicon. The season runs from the beginning of April through the end of October. Applications are available on the agency's website. Officials hope to have hosts in place by mid-March. -
