Need help from anyone towing a CR-V with a Blue Ox base

I have a Blue Ox base plate that I am preparing to install on my CR-V but would like to know, from someone with a 2012-14 CR-V what the distance is from the flat ground to the center of the connectors on the CR-V.

I am looking at a used Blue Ox Aventa LX to match up with my CR-V. It is a 10,000 lb hitch, which is way overkill for the car but the price is good. I know the receiver on the RV should be no more than 4" higher than the couplers on the towed, which may require me to buy a drop receiver at $110 or more. If I get into this, I may just buy the Acclaim at $444. which is good for 5000 lbs. and will work on the drop hitch ball I already own. Can't see that I will ever need more capacity than the 5000 lbs.

Isn't the acclaim a tow bar you mount on the toad rather than the motor home? Maybe this is why customer service said it wouldn't work.

I would have to assume they would work together, especially if the Blue Ox rep said they would.

ASS-U-ME-ing seems to get me into trouble quite often.

This fellow has been in charge of maintenance for a large local dealer for a long time and I wouldn't totally discount what he says even though it differs from what the fellow at Blue Ox says. That is why I would like to hear from someone who has succesfully of unsuccesfully tried it.

As it turns out I will probably buy the almost new previously mentioned Aventa and be done with it.

Since the tow bar and base plate are both from Blue Ox, I would have to assume they would work together, especially if the Blue Ox rep said they would.

A new dillema related to the 2012-2014 CR-V, Blue Ox base plate and Acclaim tow bar. I talked to customer service at Blue Ox, who told me that this setup was fine. Later today I discussed this with the dealer's guy who does the installs who told me it would not work. Said it would not fit to the base plate tabs. Some of the details were lost on me but I thought there might be someone on the forum that could shed some light.

Am I correct to assume your tow bar on the CR-V a Blue Ox brand?

Also, I have had recommendations from a couple of people who have ths SMI Air Force One brake system, but can't find anyone in my area who installs them.

Thanks. I have to check, but I believe the Phaeton is 20", so I'll have to drop it at least a couple of inches. May just go with the 5000 lb. ball mount. Costs just keep adding up when getting set up to go from a tow dolly to a flat towed.
