Opinion on RV dryer brand

I have a new to me 5th wheel that came with a stacked set of Ariston (Splendide) washer and dryer. The dryer is a AS66VX. Anyway the washer works fine but the dryer isn't heating. The problem is either a bad thermostat or bad heating coil. After searching for literally days I finally found an affordable place to buy the replacement. It comes as a package with the heating elements and both thermostats. Anyway, the replacement coil/thermostats run $184 plus shipping from Canada. The only other source I found was over $250. I have an opportunity to purchase a used Whirlpool ldr3822pq dryer that will fit nicely into the spot for about $75.

Is the Ariston a good enough dryer (or better than the Whirlpool) to invest the money for the repair or should I just go the cheaper route and put the Whirlpool in??

I figure in the future the whirlpool will be much easier to get parts for.

The Whirlpool has a slightly smaller capacity than the Ariston: 3.4 CuFt VS 4.0 CuFt.

As these are stacked I will have to find a way to mount the whirlpool since the ariston attaches with custom brackets to the washer. This is not a big deal really just an extra step.

Not sure exactly how the vent is set up behind the Ariston as I haven't pulled it out yet so I don't know if it runs straiget out the back or is curved. If it runs straight out the back and I switch to the Whirlpool I'm sure the vents aren't in exactly the same location.

Just curious what everyones thoughts are.

Thanks,

Steve

The vent hole is already in place in mine. I have not pulled the W/D out of its closet though. In my unit they are located in a closet in the bathroom. It is going to be very tight so I didn't want to start until I could do something. I'm not even sure what setup was used to hook the dryer to the vent although I know it is hooked up cause all I get is cold air out it....lol.

4x4FF....I've sent you a private message....but attaching was easy....once the ratchet was welded in place, and proper holes in the floor placed and cut. My biggest worry was the vent hole....that's why I paid an RV dealer to muscle the dryer into place and cut the hole....in the right place.

We've had that Whirlpool dryer in service, fulltime since '06....zero issues.
The dryer sits on top of the washer, with a heavy duty anti-fatigue mat in between to provide a non skid base. To secure the dryer to the washer, I ran extra long cargo straps up thru the floor, crossed over the stacked pair and back thru the floor where the ratchet had been welded to the frame below the floor. I have photos if you are interested. The pair has not budged since installation.
