Roadnaster base plate for Honda 2014 CRV

I just purchased a new base plate for my 2014 CRV, I did not know there 2 different models. One kit #521567-4 and the other is Kit# 521567-5. The -4 kit requires a cross bar to go between the insert arms, and the -5 kit insert arms are stand alone, according to Roadmaster they don't require and cross arm. Does anyone know if one is better or worse than the other. I have always towed with the cross arm before. I have a Falcon 5250 tow bar and not sure if should stay with the cross arm or not. According to Roasmaster all I would have to do is exchange the insert arms for whatever way I want.

Love to hear what other people think, pro or con

Thanks

I'm towing a Chevy Equinox with a RoadMaster baseplate that takes the individual arms no crossbar. It works very well, when removed nothing shows, and only the two inserts to store. Win Win all the way around.

Thanks for the input, Roadmaster says that I shouldn't have problems so I guess I'll take their advice and go without a cross bar. I just like to get other peoples views before I try something new. Can never be to careful

I have two toweds, both have RM brackets and no cross bars. I don't have any problems that I know of and I use the Stowmaster tow bars.

I did that too and bought the one with the crossarm. I dont have the CRV anymore but still have the tow bar brackets and arm. I also have the 5250 roadmaster tow bar. All I had to do was change the end fittings but didnt realize that!
