RV workcamping/Hosting regarding vehicle age or size?

Hi, my husband and i are considering work camping or hosting at rv parks. Any opinions on what is the best size of rv ( looking at class A). Is there an age limit on what RV's are allowed to participate?

Thanks for all the great information ..this really helps with making our decision. To answer a couple of questions asked: 1 . we are going search for paid positions. 2. We do need at least a 30 ft class A. My husband is 6'4 and is built like a linebacker.
We have found several older ( 2000 -2002) coaches in really great condition with low mileage that fit our budget, so its good to hear that age is relative to condtion.

I think the age rule is to allow the park operators to keep the trash out. You must have seen some of the older rigs that have never been washed, one leveler doesn't work so they can't sit level, the curtains don't hang right because they rigged something up rather than do a tasteful replacement, the mini blinds in the windows are all bent up and the windows have never seen any glass cleaner. The steps are hanging, fastened only on 1 side --- that type of thing, a window ac with something stuffed in around it. Just an example of some of the things we have seen in 2 years.

Ive wondered about that. Whats the inspection for? If it can be licensed or you own your lot what is the deal? Is it cosmetics?

The inspection is for the overall condition of the RV which would include:
1. any damaged or blemished areas i.e. broken lights, loose fenders, cracks
2. overall condition, apperance of exterior surfaces ie. is the RV clean and waxed
3. The interior is not part of the inspection.
The intent is to maintain a standard throuhout the park. Some RV Resorts/Parks also have a min. length needed to register in the park i.e. 26" in length

We only volunteer state and federal facilities and have encountered everything from tents to class A's with some rigs being over 20 years old. Private parks are something else they generally want a recent picture of the rig and you.

Some RV parks in Ariz. have a 10 yr. age rule. If the RV is over 10 years the RV park management requires an inspection of the rig by their staff.

Are you volunteering in state parks or paid positions in private parks?
We volunteer in the state park system. There is everything from a 20 foot Casita to a 12 foot camper to diesel pushers. It is all about what your comfortable in. We have a 35 foot fiver and while it is fine for me, DW gets cramped after a month.

Depends on how much space you want and/or need. We have been hosting for 2 years now in a 21 foot Class C and we are comfortable with it. When we first started out we took so much stuff with us that we thought we needed that each month we started to get rid of things we knew we wouldn't use. We also purchased one of those First Up Screen Houses which is where we set up our cooking area. As far as the age limit on the RV it depends on the park. We have been hosting at State Parks and there is no age limit. A lot of the private parks usually ask you to send a picture of your RV and yourselves. Hope this helps.
