Those In The New England Area

Perhaps this song by the Kingston Trio is somewhat appropriate considering the MTA is shut down. ๐Ÿ™‚

Well, let me tell you of the story of a man named Charlie
On a tragic and fateful day
He put ten cents in his pocket, kissed his wife and family
Went to ride on the MTA

Well, did he ever return?
No he never returned and his fate is still unlearned
He may ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston
And he's the man who never returned

Charlie handed in his dime at the Kendall Square station
And he changed for Jamaica Plain
When he got there the conductor told him, "One more nickel"
Charlie couldn't get off of that train

But did he ever return?
No he never returned and his fate is still unlearned
He may ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston
He's the man who never returned

Now, all night long Charlie rides through the station
Crying, "What will become of me?
How can I afford to see my sister in Chelsea
Or my cousin in Roxbury?"

But did he ever return?
No he never returned and his fate is still unlearned
He may ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston
He's the man who never returned

Charlie's wife goes down to the Sculley Square station
Every day at quarter past two
And through the open window she hands Charlie a sandwich
As the train comes rumbling through

But did he ever return?
No he never returned and his fate is still unlearned
He may ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston
He's the man who never returned

Now, ye citizens of Boston
Don't you think it's a scandal
How the people have to pay and pay?
Fight the fare increase, vote for George O'Brian
Get poor Charlie off the MTA

Or else he'll never return
No he'll never return and his fate is still unlearned
He may ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston
He's the man who never returned

He's the man who never returned
He's the man who never returned
He's the man who never returned
Ain't you, Charlie?

Same thoughts here:D

Can't speak for the people of Queens or Staten Island who seem to always feel the pain when bad weather comes through (overhead power lines- shudderrrrr!)but most of Manhattan and the Bronx are doing fine although some residents of Manhattan are prolly suffering from takeout food withdrawals. Passed by a local Whole Food Friday night and the checkout line extended to the front door! I bet I could have made a killing emptying out my freezer to my 90 odd nabes. Could have put an orange safety vest and helmet on my granddaughter, and just have her go door to door saying "Deliveryyyyyyyy" and we'd be rich. Oh well, maybe next "Snowmageddon";).

The city looks serenely beautiful and not at all as if almost 27" fell to the ground. Of course the second I finished typing that sentence a 4 snow plower truck convey just clanked through the street but at least it's passable for cars.

Haven't been out and about in the white stuff yet but still need to take the kiddo down a few hills on her sled when the sun reappears. I will say from on up high 2 odd feet of snow looks like nothing to get crazed about.

Me too. :B

Thanks Dick A for a little humor on a snowy day/evening. Looks like the people of NY City are having a rough time, as is a large portion of the East.

This was my late wife's favorite song after we had a long affair with the Chicago I-90-94 right after they built it.

Not to make light of the real problem the storm is causing but rather just to inject a little humor most in the region probably could use.:)
