In spite of the naysayers and their dire warnings, I used to see such a rig zipping happily down the freeway locally quite often. True, not much recently. Apparently, if it isn't towable on a dolly or four down, it gets left home.
the fact remains, towing on a dolly backwards has been done in the past, and probably will be done again.
Would I put my '66 Chevelle on a dolly backwards? No. It will sit at home. Being towed is what the Jeep is for.
Can a vehicle be towed on a dolly backwards? Yes.
Will it cause irreparable damage? Probably not.
Good luck.
