I've seen a lot of interest in the forum regarding starting, maintaining or folks looking for a camping group. We're going to experiment with a "sticky" at the top of the forum so that people are more able to communicate about this.

Looking for a family camping group in NC. We are near Raleigh. It is myself, my husband, our 3 1/2 yr old daughter and a very well behaved dog. We are brand new to this and would love to get to know some people and maybe even let them laugh at us as we probably resemble Robin Williams in the movie RV doing all of this!

We live in the New Smyrna Beach area, and are also looking for a family group. We have 4 kids, so it would be great to find a family with similar ages: boys: 5,8,10 girl: 10 ๐Ÿ™‚ We have stayed pretty close to home, but are looking for families that camp the east/west coast of Florida. We love Turkey Lake Park, Salt Springs, Anastasia State Park, Blue Springs, Juniper Springs,Hillsborough River State Park, Kelly Park in Apopka, NSB campground, Indian Mound Fish Camp, and a few others within a 200 mile radius...

It looks like there is some interest in a KC camping group. I am in Wichita, KS. We have a couple of sets of friends that we go camping with, but most of their kids are older, and they usually want to stay local. We have a five year old boy. Anyone in the Wichita area aware of any camping organizations for families? If not, we may have to meet some of the KC folks halfway. Timmy, what type of response did you get to your post?

Did you get any resonses to this? We are in Derby, with a 3 YO boy, we would like to do a group thing as well. I'm leaving the end of AUgust for 4 months but next year would be cool to meet up!

I don't qualify for SMART- my father is a vet, my brother in law is a vet but both my husband and myself were turned down for military service (different reasons but good ones).

We belong to a group called SMART, in fact we belong to three chapters of SMART. (Special Military Active and Retired Travel group) They are in all 50 states, recently they changed there bylaws to allow any Honorable Vet. to join.
I believe you can find them on smartrving.com , this is a great group, we used to meet on a weekend but found that was not enough time so now we meet for a week at a time.We travel all over North Carolina & South Carolina, some times drive as much as 400 miles for a muster, it's fun come join us.getting there is half the fun.

we would like to meet some people that enjoy the same things in life that we do, `camping, boating, enjoying the out doors!!
