Fact #4

Spiked collars are still in use today.

Especially for livestock dogs protecting flocks from wolves, coyotes, wild cats of all sizes too. Predators try to crush a dog's throat in a fight and the spikes deter that, giving the dog a fighting chance.

Interesting. Our ACD is part dingo so has a lot of cat traits. It is one of the reasons bonding with me has been difficult. Think he knows I dislike cats. We're making progress. He does do his jobs on command. Makes it much easier in the RV.

Enjoyed the info.

Um - Dingos are most definitely DOGS. The article mentioned hyenas as being more catlike - not Dingos 😉

I have to admit - my ACD is the red version and has white spots. With those big jaws and prick ears, a few people HAVE asked if he's part hyena....LOL!! But catlike?? Not mine. 100% pure "dog"

Blue ACD. Ours is like a cat. He catches birds to eat, cleans himself like a cat. We trim nails once a week. He is a pedigree whatever that means for a ACD. LOL
