Dog fears thunder!

Our 90-lb seven year-old Golden Retriever who is normally very mellow, will pant and whine and try to escape our TT if he hears thunder or a firecracker. What will calm him down? Tranquilizers? Thundercoat? What have you found that works?

Wrong! He was not a big wimp. Their just gentle and good natured as dogs come and love affection. Loud sounds and hash voices disturb them.

We used "Rescue Remedy" ,a Holistic drug sold at many health food stores and some drug stores. A few drops on their tongue and it works almost instantly, and it calmed our border collie. We used it for years.

Slip a small sized t-shirt on him.........acts like thundershirt but cheaper

Same with our Golden. We use Vetriscience Composure recommended by our vet in combination with a Thundershirt. Doesn't completely eliminate the stress, but significantly reduces it.

Thundershirts (jackets or coats) are not 100% effective - didn't help our border collie Just Mike. But, we have seen them work on many dogs, including our friends' golden Nutmeg.

Well worth a try.
