Since a lot of Good Sam clubs around the country do events to help provide funding for this nonprofit to sponsor service dogs, I thought you all might be interested in this.
New DFD President AnnouncementA lot of us met former CEO Robin Dickson at various RV Rallies. She was the daughter of DFD's founder, and served more than 30 years herself before retiring six months ago. A tough act to follow, but I wish the new guy great success in leading this wonderful, very professional group.
Unlike a lot of service dog providers, DFD provides the dogs free of charge to recipients (other than a $50 application fee and a $500 good faith deposit returned after one year.) They never require recipients to find sponsors or raise money to cover the dog's cost.
My life has certainly changed for the better since Hearing Dog Raylene arrived from DFD three months ago. Thank you to all Good Sam chapters who help make this kind of life change possible for hearing-impaired people.
