needing to teach my pit bull to stay in the camper while we go out for dinner or to the pool, so I'm looking for a quick and easy way to use the ipad as a webcam so I can view it from my iphone. She stays at home without trouble all day, so we need to get her "comfortable " staying in the camper for short stints.

we had to get a "screen saver" for the screen door since she scratches at it the moment we leave. the first test session went well and she settled down in about 10 minutes. I was only gone for 15 minutes.... the next time she settled down in ~5 minutes, and I was gone for ~20 minutes.....It's nice to be able to watch and see how she reacts when we leave.

I used Facetime today and it worked well, but if you get disconnected then someone has to be there to accept the call. (haven't quite taught her that tick yet"

I downloaded the "AtHome" app for both the iphone and ipad, but it's a bit slow and has a lot of "lag" compared to using Facetime.

Nice thing about using something like facetime is that I can hear the A/C running in the background so I know we have power and the pup is cool.

Does anyone know of an app that will work well for the intended purpose?

We just bought the Guardzilla camera. We love it.

Down loaded the app and followed instructions.
It also has a microphone where you can talk to Your dog. Got it at Best Buy.

Yes, at many campgrounds that is the rule. we all know many people leave their dogs in the camper if they are well behaved and the camper is cool. As long as the dog is not causing a nuisance to other guests it's not a problem. That's why I want a webcam, so I can be sure everything is going well if I'm away from the trailer.

additionally, I'm only talking about short periods of time were I would be close enough to get back to the trailer quickly if need be. a quick dinner, or just an hour at the pool.....up until now, I've been the one to hang back at the trailer with the dog while DW and kids go play.

when we go out for the day she comes with us, in fact she goes everywhere unless dogs are prohibited from the area....

gonna check out those apps now.

A free app that seems to work great is "Dog Monitor" - works between my tablet and phone, both Android.

Consider the app Periscope. It allows you to stream video from one iOS device and view it in real time on another.

Better, of course, would be to spring for one of the remote-viewing security cameras, which have motion alerts and allow you to talk as well as listen to the dog. They seem to start around $125 or $150 and would be more secure. Periscope is designed to be viewable by anyone.
