12v Converter question

I bought a TV that has an external power supply. It says 19.6v on the little box.

Is there anyway to go from 12v to 19.6v without going through an inverter?

My TV inverter...cigarette plugin...is 87% efficient while the 28 inch TV uses 40 watts. Not sure about the antenna booster.

While a modern TV don't use a lot of power most inverters are very inefficient meaning the inverter will use much more power without even having the TV on. If boondocking this could reduce battery runtime.

I suggest getting a TV that actually RUNS on 12 V for the RV.

But even that solution isn't perfect......as you need a 12 V outlet nearby AND I discovered mine won't run if the input voltage is above 14.2 or so. A minor inconvenience.

I looked on EBay and found a couple of 12v to 18-19v inverters. However, an inverter to 120 vac as mentioned by rjniles, above, is a much more versatile solution. You don't need much power to run a TV.

I assume by TV you mean a television that has a wall wart that plugs into a 120 volt receptacle and puts out 19.6 volts to power the television. Your best bet is to get a 12 volt Dc to 120 volt AC inverter.
