12VDC Weather station?

Do any of you know of a good reliable barometer/temp/humidity/wind speed guage to put in my RV that would run off the twelve volt system? I actually found a unit that toes all the above from Bass Pro shop but it takes seven AA batteries. Would rather hard wire into my DC system. Any thoughts?

Driving wind? The best driving wind indicator is your hands on the steering wheel. Doesn't matter what the device says, when it feels too shaky, slow down or pull off. You have better chance of getting into accident with your eyes and senses glued to that tiny screen.

Sounds like my concern on battery life is not valid. The one I am lookin at has wind speed monitor. Any thoughts on RV ap-0plication and driving wind?

Batteries seem to last a long time so it has not been a big issue. Besides I don't consider it a critical system either. Never seen one with a powered remote. Some that have a clock/alarm/time projector have a plug in adapter that can probably be modified for 12v.

I've got a nice Oregon Scientific weather station I bought off Amazon. I transfer it between the house and RV when we travel. It's not 12v hardwired (don't know of any) but the batteries last so long I don't worry about it. I think they will go nearly 2 years.

Are you worried about usage of batteries?

If so, the weather station we have from WalMart,(about $100.00) has batteries, but has been running almost a year now, continuously, on the original batteries. The outside sensor is also wireless to the inside display.

Now that I have said that,they will probably die today. LOL

Yup, we have a "universal" charging station (and clock) that came with a wall-wart to 9VDC, got a 12VDC to 9 VDC converter from RS and the matching jack. So now it runs while we boon-dock

Just look for one with a wall wort less than 12V, and go to Radio Shack with it. They should be able to match the connector and voltage to a multi-tap regulator for ya

There are several wireless backyard weather stations that you can choose from that use less than 7 batteries. The one I have at home uses 4 batteries and they last over a year. If you use lithium batteries they'll last even longer.
