Hi, I went to my battery and check my voltage (good).? While connect to the shore line power, i disconnected the battery and checked the voltage from the converter (good). I reconnected the battery, go in the trailer and I see the refridgerator working (good). The clock on the radio is on. but, when I turn on the lights, the lights don't come on, the power goes off to the radio and fridge and a beep comes from the converter. Any suggestions?

The description of the power dropping out... then coming back on its own sounds like a self-resetting circuit breaker might be a part of this circuit. When too much current is drawn, they heat up and open (break) the circuit, just like a regular circuit breaker. However, the self-resetting kind will close (re-enable) the circuit once they have had time to cool off. If the problem is gone by that time, everything returns to normal. However, if the problem condition remains the power will continue to cycle on and off. (You did not describe any cycling behavior.)

I wonder if there might be a temporary short in your light switch when you first turn on the lights. Does this problem occur with several different light switches or just one?

What about the battery fuse's fuse holder? Any corrosion there?

On the DC fuse panel inside, are all wires tight, especially the big battery wire lug set- screws?

Turning on the lights and getting a beep suggests that turning on the lights draws so much battery it makes the voltage low enough to set off the LP alarms low-voltage alarm. It should show red? light as well as beep while it still has any juice left to run those.

That would indicate a major loose connection? --back to that fuse holder? No idea.

Another elimination test is to disconnect the battery with shore power on so the converter only is doing the 12v. This by-passes the whole battery fuse area.

SO.. I did the following after disconnecting the battery (it was connected correctly) and unplugged the shoreline:

1. I checked the 12v fuse between battery and DC panel (close to battery on pos wire) (not blown)

2. I Checked the reverse polarity fuses on the converter itself (two 30a fuses), (not Blown)

3. I check the ground off the battery going to the chassis mine (not loose - all good)

4. Check the fuse at battery again. But this time I pulled it out to inspect for corrosion on the fuse connection. Metal looked dull with a hint of green. So I replaced it anyway.

5. Checked the battery with a volt meter and it is fully charged.

6. Reconnected the battery. Entered the trailer is looked at the following:
- Fridge (working)
- radio (working)
- Lights (beeped - power went down.... but, then came back to normal)

Now the problem is gone.I reconnected the shore line to my house for a while... then went out .. unplugged... turned on the lights with no beep.

SO.... was it the fuse?... or my patience with not waiting long enough with the lights?

Cheers!

1. terminology, it is a power converter (makes 12v from 120v) not an inverter (makes 120 from 12)

2. converters don't beep but the LP alarm will on low 12v voltage

3. You did something when connecting the battery back up so now your converter does not make 12v and the battery 12v can't reach the 12 DC panel.

4. Most likely the 12v fuse (or DC circuit breaker) between battery and DC panel (close to battery on pos wire) is blown and also somehow at the same time you blew the reverse polarity fuses on the converter itself (often two 30a fuses), so it cannot power the DC panel either.

So, to trouble-shoot, disconnect battery again. Check the 30amp fuses in the converter/DC dist panel. Replace both even if only one is blown. Now you should have 12v from converter with no battery.

Now unplug shore power so you don't blow the converter fuses again, and try to wire the battery right this time and fix that battery fuse or circuit breaker until you have 12v ok from battery to DC fuse panel.

Now it is safe to plug in shore power again without blowing the converter fuses again.

Thanks... I will check it out tomorrow... it was fine last season... and it has been like this since I replaced the battery a month ago... I will keep you up dated.

I will be willing to bet you have REVERSED the Positive and negative wires at the battery. Doug
