48v parallel chargers for Li

I own 2 of these 48v 15a Schauer chargers, originally for charging AGM. When I went to Li I needed them reconfigured, which the company was glad to do, to my specs at no charge to me. I just pay the freight to OH both ways.

My goal was twofold, have a spare since they aren't exactly an off-the-shelf item, and more importantly, parallel them for fast charging of my 48v 100ah pack. The company said they wouldn't work in parallel, but if they're both set to constant voltage it seemed to me they would. And they DO! I just hooked them up and voila, 30 amps at 50+ volts. I can now charge my pack from almost depleted to full in about 3 hours.

These are excellent products, work well, and are built like tanks. Oh.. they wouldn't work in parallel with the flooded/AGM configuration.

I finished up the permanent install of this system today. I replaced the 12/3 extension cord with a 10/3, and rewired the junction box supplying the chargers. 1500w is a serious load for a 50' run of wire!

The plugs are getting 'a bit' warm, but I'll live with that for now. I may end up wiring it using standard 30a RV cord. We'll see.

It just might!

Interesting, I'm running a 48v Chevy Volt battery in a small EV car I built for me and the grandkids. I was thinking, a couple of these would probably make one heck of a battery for the camper.

Not according to the Victron amp-hour meter. 30a INTO the batteries. I use solar in tandem too and it all works fine.

No or-ing diodes needed? One supply doesn't backfeed the other?

I've noticed Meanwell supports parallel operation on some of their supplies, using diodes to force current sharing.

The magic of lithium right there. Very little voltage rise to fool the second charger.
