Lazy question before I take the generator out to the trailer.

Will the battery charge when I have the disconnect off?

No, if you connect the shore cord to the generator.
Yes, if you connect the generator's 12v cables directly to the battery. BUT this is the most inefficient way to recharge the battery.

Connect charging cables direct to the battery. If you are using the shore power to connect AC and charging via the onboard converter, it won't charge. You would have to engage the battery cutoff switch first.

Bring your voltmeter and verify right on the battery terminals. 13.2+ is charging. 12.8 or less is not charging.

No if using the converter, yes if using a portable charger clamped to the battery
