Looking for a little help finding what I need to try to run a coleman RVP 7300 AC on a '94 prowler off a smaller generator. Did searching but struggling finding what I need for the kit.

Thanks

OK, Here... BUT you still don't know if you already have something. Sometime, you're gonna have to gather more info and the info is most likely under that plastic cover, up on your roof. If you already have Coleman's start kit (capacitor plus start relay) the SPP6E won't help as much as what's already there.

Dont buy according to what I say and I agree with what the others have said about knowing your model and serial number and buy according to what you need. An RV dealer told me 3500/ 4000 surge will run most ac units. I would be careful about hammering your little honda with that ac unit. I did that with a generac 5500 with central air in my home and it blew the stator winding wire right where it goes into the plastic/epoxy type material that holds the windings in place. Ooops.
Also consider that just like me, you have an older unit and if it conks out you will be buying an 13,500 I would guess, so you may want to shop with that in mind.

Thanks, the trend Im thinking about now is simply having a bigger generator for my house, and to take just when I want to use the AC in the trailer, otherwise always take the honda2000 I guess. Or score another honda cheap and parellel them.

So a 3-4000w gennie should be enough for a 13,500 AC?

But still like to try a hard start kit on this thing, if anyone has any advice on wehre to buy one.

Most T/C people tell me that the 9000 BTU model generator will run off a Honda 2K generator, but I think that despite the innocent model number, you actually have a 13,500 BTU generator there. You might get it started with one of the 2400 watt Yamaha gennies if you shut off everything else that takes power from your breaker box.

Yep. Thats the problem we all have. It was a major undertaking but mine is now mounted on the reinforced back bumper. Converted to propane with remote start kit. A Honda won't run the air and I'm not lifting a 96 lb gen in and out of the truck plus carry gas cans etc. Even a Honda that will run the ac was too heavy for me. Then I noticed the whole issue of someone stealing it. Why bother trying to steal a champion.

Trying to make it run off a 2000 honda, and was hoping to not have to climb up there to see what it was, guess Ill have to.

How small is your generator? I think my 1997 Jayco has the same ac and Im using a 3500 watt champion with 4000 surge

I looked at the rvcomfort site and tried to find parts list for "7000" series. There's "47000" but not "7000."
Please post your full Model Number and Serial Number. Someone should then be able to get specific.

Best I know, you can run but ONE Start Assist Device. My understanding is that (for Compressor only, Fan will usually also have a Run Capacitor...) this is the progression from Hardest to Easiest starting:

1. Run Capacitor Only, No Start Device
2. Run PLUS Start Cap and PTCR Device (Two OEM Coleman parts or combined in one Module like SUPCO SPP6)
3. Run PLUS Electronic Start Kit (Start Cap with electronics in one Module like SUPCO SPP6E)
4. Run PLUS Coleman's OEM Start Cap and Start Relay
5. Run PLUS a kit Dometic offers. Chris Bryant mentioned that this offers easiest starting, but I know nothing about it

If you'll SHUT POWER OFF and take a look on your roof, you can pull the plastic shroud and find:

1. Plate/Label with Model/Serial info. Please post that.
2. Access to Capacitor(s) and Possible Start Device. Please take a picture of that area and post that.

would there be a disadvantage to more than one cap on it?

Some of the guys here have access to a decoder list that tells what options an RVP AC has, by the full Model Number. If it already has the Start Capacitor controlled by a Start Relay, you've already got pretty good help. The 7300 Wiring Diagram or Parts List will include start assist that may or may not be there.
