Dash Air Not Blowing Cold Again

Hello I am wondering if anyone might know of a good repair facility here in Orange County to work on my dash air conditioning.

I had it looked at while in Bend Oregon last summer and they found a blown fuse. That lasted about 50 miles and it went back out again. I was on my way back to S. California so couldn't return to Beaver Coach to have them take a second look.

I have a 1997 American Tradition.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you in advance

Wow, thanks for the detailed info. I really am at a loss about how to proceed on my own.

Anyone have a recommendation for a good repair facility near Huntington Beach, Ca. ?

Thanks, you guys are the best!

There might be a low pressure line fuse close to the compressor or on it that blows when the system is low on refrigerant and needs recharging. I would check the charge of the system before replacing another fuse.

Have my doubts that the replaced fuse was bad..

Fuses tend to fail when there IS a problem.

Is it the fan motor not working or is it the compressor not working (you get warm air from the fan).

If fan is working but getting warm air, pretty good chance with the age of the RV that you have a bad clutch coil on the AC compressor if the fuse is blown..

A good AC shop should be able to check the current draw of the clutch coil.

If new fuse is not blown and you are getting warm air then you have a worn AC clutch. This often can be fixed buy removing the inside of the clutch and removing a shim or two. This is a common problem when the AC clutch wears a bit the magnetic gap widens too far and the clutch no longer catches. You can check to see if the AC compressor turns on while running, just have engine running and a helper turn on the AC and what to see if the center of the compressor clutch starts spinning..

Additionally no clutch but the fuse is good you could be low on refrigerant and or have a bad pressure switch..

Oce, it might be near compressor and not in fuse box.

I would replace the fuse again just in case it was bad. Two blown fuses would be good input for a repair shop. If a friend could measure the amps that would be good input.

Can't help with a good repair shop. But it might help if you could determine who manufactured the AC and use someone that knows that type of unit.
