Dometic toilet floor seal

Has anyone ever replaced the foam floor flange seal with a wax ring? If so how did it work?

Many people get rid of the interior vacuum breaker and instead use one on the threaded connector outside...

When I replaced the broken holding tank, the toilet had a wax ring that showed no sign of ever leaking, so when I reinstalled it on the new tank, I used a wax ring. (5 yrs ago)

After lots of nusance odors, and after changing out the foam seal, 4 yrs back I finally adapted a wax ring to remedy this dreaded problem and have been very pleased ever since - no vibration issues to date...Disposable gloves work wonders, and I’m a fairly well rounded DIY’er, so am greatful I can handle my own repairs...Another thing to be aware of is IF you have a sani-flush with an interior located anti-siphon VENT valve - trust that this can be very bad news...

Why would you want to do that????? A Foam seal has been used on MILLIONS of RV's over the years and have np problems on install. Less mess than a wax seal. The only thing, is, you may have to replace the Foam seal after 10 years or so from it drying up and shrinking. Yes, I have had customers do that and they paid extra for me to fix the problem because cleaning up that wax seal mess is a pain. Doug

Wax rings are not recommended. The normal RV vibrations while in motion can displace the wax enough to cause a leak. The correct foam gaskets are readily available and inexpensive. I would only use a wax ring as a temporary fix until a proper gasket was obtained.
