Guys, a friend of ours died recently and has a Yahama 2000 generator that is very lightly used and about four years old. Went over yesterday and it started with about three pulls after sitting for two years. It ran great but the widow wants to sell it and was wondering what kind of price would be appropriate. Any help would be much appreciated.

There are 3 used Yamaha 2000 variant on ebay right now. The price is about $600.

Make sure it runs for at least 30 minutes under load. Hook it up to a 1500 watt space heater and let it run.

Make sure it makes power at all of its outlets. Plug a Kill-a-Watt meter into them and verify you are getting proper voltage and 60Hz.

1/3 - 1/2 the price of new, that's fair.

HALF the original new dollar selling price THEN would not be inappropriate.

No warranty. Possibility of discontinuance of obsolete repair parts, all come into focus.

When the purchaser is a satisfied as the seller, then it's perfect.

I wouldn't know, but starting with 3 pulls after that long time indicates to me that it's had gas sitting in it all this time. That could indicate a carburetor cleaning would be likely.
