Excercize a Propane generator?

My son just bought a Yahama EF2400ISHC Gas/ Propane generator. He plans to connect it to his RV trailer LP gas bottle and run it strictly on propane. Will he have to excercize it monthly as if it was a gas generator? Also, what connectors and fuel hoses will he need to connect it to the trailer LP system? Thanks :h

Yes, it needs to be exercised same as any other generator. Keeps slip rings clean among other things.

Did it come with a manual ?
Some small changes likely need to be made to run on propane too.

Your friendly trailer dealer can assist with the gas connecting parts. The main consideration is whether or not the Gen. has it's own gas regulator.

And I agree with running it occasionally but every couple of months should be good enough since you don't have to worry about burning off stale fuel......unless it is stored in a REALLY harsh environment.

one of the reasons for exercising any generator is to make sure that oil gets on the cylinder walls, bearings, and piston rings so they don't rust, so regardless of the fuel used, you want to run the generator from time to time to prevent rust. In fact, let it sit idle long enough, the engine will seize up and be impossible to turn over, let alone start.

I have a propane unit in my rv and I run it every now and then ,just to keep things lubed.

I believe the main purpose of exercising a generator is too keep the magnets and coil dry and magnetized. Or something like that.
I don't think you need to be too concerned about the carb gumming up with propane.
Personally, I would exercise it to make sure it's working properly.
