Has anyone ever lifted a slide with accu-slide cable system to inspect wear bar?
Keystone Passport 2016 Ultra Lite 2920bh: Not under warranty
After popping and shaking of accu-slide, I have been informed by accu-slide company that I will need to replace the gearbox on the accu-slide. In addition, the dealership now says that the wear bar is "probably" damaged (without inspection) on the left side of the slide (when slide is closed in camper). They believe the wear bar is "damaged" on the left side and needs to be replaced. They also suggested that I could use plastic rollers instead of a cheaply made wear bar. Price: 129.00/hr with 5-12 hours of work. plus cost of wear bar, rollers. Accuslide is replacing gearbox at no charge. Question: Is there anyway to inspect the wear bar before taking it to the dealership and letting them have their way? Labor prior to parts could be $1548 alone.

NEVER heard of a wear bar problem. Never heard of the term Wear Bar. Since they mention roller in place of a wear bar, I assume they mean the NYLON SLIDE bars that a lot of slide rooms slide on. Yes, they can be damaged or inadequately installed and they break loose. All the Accuslide system does is pull the room out and pull the room in. The underneath on the main floor supports the room whether it is rollers or the Nylon. I doubt you can just install rollers in place of the Nylon. There is a BIG difference in height(rollers higher). Ask the shop if they have done this type repair before(installing rollers). Odds are the rollers will have to have a recess cut out of the floor to get them low enough to work. 2016, I would be trying to get Keystone involved, unless you are not the original owner. Doug
