About a month ago our Splendide washer/ dryer combo burned up. We had the unit replaced with a new 2100xc and are having issues with it. After our first load in it had been drying for quite awhile I checked the unit to find it still running with all the lights flashing. I turned it off and took out the clothes but it would not turn back on. I flipped the breaker to it and let it stay off to reset the unit but it still wouldn't power back up. After some head scratching and trying different things I hit the house battery disconnect for the heck of it and when turned the batteries back on the washer powered up. My question is why would this have reset it? If it is on and I turn the batteries off it kills all power to it. Why would it need power from the batteries for that plug to operate. It won't power on from the inverter when disconnected from shore power which should be correct. Help!?!

It ain't braggin' if it's true.

But constantly pointing that out IS egotistical and condescending.

BUT....rubbing that in at every opportunity is totally unnecessary.

Oh, and it does not automatically always make you right either.

I do have an EMS system in our 06 Bounder. That needing 12v to work seems logical. I spoke with a tech from Splendid this morning who said the main control board is defective. They are sending out a new one so hopefully that will remedy the issues. Thanks for the responses everyone.

Yes, I see.
Not knowing what model/equipment he has, we are all just guessing though.

I don't expect to be able to run the unit off the inverter. My question is why would having the house batteries connected be necessary when plugged in to shore power and is this normal.

The only answer I have is that the dryer outlet IS powered by the inverter and you don't know it. I see no other reason for a 110 outlet to go dead when the batteries are disconnected. None.

It's normal, or at least not abnormal, to need to have the house batteries in place and connected. Many things are 12V only. Depending on the converter, it may be possible to run them off of converter power without a battery connected; however, many converters don't work well (or at all) without a battery. Even if you have one that produces clean power of a reasonable voltage without a battery, having a battery hooked up allows for better handling of transient high-current needs when the converter output could conceivably sag.

Some (mostly older) converters produce very unclean power on their own and rely on the battery to clean it up.

You do NOT state year and model of your RV. BUT, if you have a RV with a 50 amp EMS system. The Washer circuit is ON the EMS shed system. Most EMS systems require the 12 volt system to be ON to power up the EMS board and close the relays for each 120 appliance on the EMS system. So, with no 12 volts you had no power to the EMS system to power up. Doug

If you expect an electric clothes dryer to run off the batteries via an inverter.......I think you are fooling yourself.
WAY too high a load for running through an inverter.

As someone else said, I would expect it to work right only when on shore power or generator; wired directly to 110 V.

I keep the inverter off when running the washing machine. It runs off of shore power or generator only for us.

The load from the inverter may be too high and the inverter shuts down automatically. Disconnecting the batteries allows the batteries to recover and inverter to reset.
