Our fridge seems to be cooling fine, but the "on" light blinks every three seconds or so. According to the owners manual this indicates a failed temp sensor, a
Dealer required repair. Before I go dragging it over to the shop, is there anything I can do to check it out or troubleshoot it?

Thank you SO much! I turned the off the fridge for a few hours, and when I turned it back on it was fine. Wierd.... But now that I have the PDF service manual if this happens again I can check it out myself, I really appreciate it!

Means fridge is operating on 'Backup Operating System' because thermistor has failed or has bad connection.

Thermistor (sensor) is located on 10th fin in food section and plugs in at light.

Here is service manual for testing thermistor......pg. 20 LINK
