Norcold Refrigerator N611LT issues

Hi. I have a 2005 Dutchman and am getting ready for an upcoming camping trip. However I am having a problem with my Norcold refrigerator. I have had the trailer parked at my house with the electric plugged up. The fridge has been working great. I recently unplugged the power to my trialer and it sat for a few days. After about 3 days the fridge got hot and the light flashed indicating I needed to check the gas supply. The tanks were almost full. When it would try to relight, it would light for a second and then go out. I plugged the power back up to the trailer and the fridge immediatly relit itself on gas. (I'm not sure what being plugged up to power had to do with the fridge lighting on propane.) The freezer started getting cold right away and seems to be working properly but the fridge doesnt get cold at all. Not even cool. The lights are not flashing or giving me any error codes. So I'm stumped. If anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for your help. It finally started getting cold while plugged in to power. I am going to put a new battery on it! Thanks again

You need good 12V DC for fridge to operate (on electric or propane).

That 12V DC power can come from batteries (if properly charged) or via converter when plugged into shore power.

Fridge works when you are on shore power but doesn't when not on shore power cause batteries are not charged/charging.....either converter is not charging, batteries can't take/hold a charge or blown fuse/disconnect switch OFF.

When connected to shore power the 12V DC for fridge comes via converter BUT you will need a good charged battery for fridge to continue to operate when NOT on shore power.


If freezer section is cold...fridge section will get cold soon....takes a while after being off.

Your battery is still probably in need of replacement but you are getting 12 volts to the refrigerator through the converter which converts 120 volts to 12 volts.

The freezer freezes first and any capacity after that goes to the refrigerator. Several things to consider:
1. As previously stated, dead or low batteries caused the initial problem.
2. The unit has not been running long enough to cool down the refrigerator. Give it 24 hours without opening the door.
3. The unit is not level.
4. The outside ambient temperature is too high. Consider installing a fan ( a computer cooling fan works good) to blow over the coils in the back of the refrigerator compartment. You have to dispel that heat.
5. The cooling unit is failing.

I suspect your problem is most likely #4 with a little of #2 thrown in for good measure!

I have the trailer plugged up to power now and have the fridge on auto but the fridge still isnt getting cold. The freezer is working fine though. Do I still have to have a good battery even with the trailer plugged up? Thanks for your response

your batterys are dead. you need 12v to run your fridge
