My 2015 F350 diesel comes with 2 batteries, not sure how they are connected, so to connect winch to only 1 or run cable to both? Max draw about 400A.What says the gurus.

Snatch blocks are used to x torque by dividing line speed. A junk tire with a ½" chain makes an excellent deadman in the desert. A 36" flat blade screwdriver will help level wind incoming cable.

Actually rated as max 430 A 17000 lbs winch Sherpa Stead not rated continuous. Thanks for the comment regards op grading earth cable

A 400 amp draw is the Maximum draw under full load which seldom if ever would be used. And if it ever is, it may not be continuous duty if it heats up. Some times common sense has to be used, ya think ???!!!

I have a MileMarker hydraulic winch. Main power comes from the power steering pump. 1 amp relay to activate. Can be used continuous with no heat issues.

I say a 400a draw is ridiculously big for any battery or cables, if that's what you're actually drawing. Things will heat up, fast. I have a 120v winch I run with a generator. Works fine.

Finally a correct answer! Diesels require more cranking power. They have two 12 volt batteries connected in parallel. You only need to connect to one set of terminals.

00 Cable is fine. The group 65 batteries are paralleled from the factory. Ford does not provide a big enough cable to the frame for ground. You'll have to make your own.

2 6V batteries configured for 12V or 2 12V setup for 12V?
If 2 6's you MUST use both to power the 12V winch (an assumption). If 2 12V you "could" wire to only one battery but that would still not be the recommended setup.

What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.

They are in parallel I believe not split.
